The "Société Tunisienne De LUBRIFIANTS" (SOTULUB) was established on 17 July 1979, at a time when environmental protection was not deemed to be an integral part of public policies and did not represent a center of attention as it does today in Tunisia and in many other countries. At that time, like everywhere, Tunisia had a large deposit of used oils that could bring a lot of benefits if regenerated.
Working as an engineer at the Tunisian Company for Petroleum Activities (ETAP) at the time, Mr. Belgacem El-Mezri is the one who takes great credit for this project conception. Thanks to his hard work, he succeeded in founding SOTULUB and was designated as its first CEO.
SOTULUB is a limited liability company that was placed, back then, under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy, before the emergence of a department for industry and energy.
