Better understanding of SOTULUB activity

- Greases
Are you capable of manufacturing special greases?
Besides the current qualities, SOTULUB has four (4) special grease formulas that it is capable of manufacturing if the market demand makes it economically sound:
- HT 4043 grease used for equipment operating in tough conditions, such as hot air fan bearings, press columns, stove doors, etc.
- PYRAGRAISSE 3547 grease used for lubricating equipment exposed to heat: tunnel kiln carriages, hearth rollers, sieves operating at high temperatures, etc.
- MOLYSTABIL 1430 grease intended for bearing blocks, rails, slewing rings of articulated cranes, etc.
- TRACTA 1391 grease intended, on the one hand, for the impregnation of textile tube cores of large cable carriers (such as cableways) and, on the other hand, for the maintenance of metal cables.

In terms of performance, what is the difference between regenerated base oils and virgin base oils?
Given their physico-chemical characteristics, regenerated oils produced through SOTULUB’s work method are as performing as new base oils obtained from crude oil. Regeneration specialists rightfully think that regenerated oils are even more efficient than new base oils, because their passage through the lubricated component makes them undergo a fifth refining, as compared to the latter.

What influence does color have on the quality of greases?
The grease performance is expressed through its physico-chemical properties, such as penetration, the dropping point, resistance to oxidation, the wheel hearing test, the anti-rust test, copper strip corrosion, etc.
The grease color only comes into play for marketing reasons, by making it more attractive. Otherwise, as contrary to some opinions, it does not affect, in any way whatsoever, the level of performance of the grease.

Should there be segregation in the collection of used oils?
Within the Tunisian market, there are different qualities of lubricating oils (engine oil, hydraulic oil, industrial oil, etc.). During their disposal, the latter must be free of any products that could contaminate them or undermine their regeneracy (example: fuel oil, cutting oil, brake fluid and any other fluid used in garages).
Segregation must take place at the level of the recuperator (where the oil drain process occurs). In conclusion, the segregation of used oils is strongly recommended to reduce treatment costs. However, SOTULUB's work method allows for the treatment of all used oils.

Since your activity is pro-environment, what becomes of your effluents?
Given their physico-chemical characteristics, regenerated oils produced through SOTULUB’s work method are as performing as new base oils obtained from crude oil.
- Distillation residue can be recycled into bitumen
- The process water is treated before discharge and the recovered hydrocarbons are incinerated in the furnace, thus providing part of the calories necessary for the plant functioning.
